A 32-year-old lorry driver, S. Mohanatas, pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and causing the death of a motorcyclist, Mohd. Nazri Samsuri, 43, on May 14th. The incident occurred at Kilometer 13, Jalan Banting - KLIA. Mohanatas faces charges under Section 44(1)(A) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020), which carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine between RM50,000 and RM100,000. Bail was set at RM8,000 with one surety, and the case is set for mention on June 26th. Mohanatas also admitted to not possessing a driving license.
